70 Tons of steel tubes Ø 1,220.0 x 10.00 millimeters

This week, we highlight a remarkable batch of steel tubes. Currently, in Moerdijk, we have almost 70 tons of spiral-welded steel tubes with dimensions Ø 1,220.0 x 10.00 millimeters. This batch consists of approximately 230 meters of tube, made from S355J2H steel according to the EN10219 standard.

The spiral-welded tubes with dimensions of Ø 1,220.0 x 10.00 millimeters are suitable for a wide range of applications, such as support tubes, structural guide systems, and fendering systems at locks. They are also suitable for foundation projects.

These tubes, measuring Ø 1,220.0 x 10.00 millimeters, are produced by spirally bending steel plates and welding along the edges using the submerged arc welding (SAW) technique. The plates are fed at an angle to determine the tube’s diameter, with overlapping welds providing extra strength.
